Area Retired Educators Hold December Meetings

The Blaine County Retired Educators held its regular meeting on Monday, Dec. 9 at the Noble House in Watonga. There were 14 in attendance. This meeting was a holiday celebration to raise money for our annual honoring of teachers and support personnel throughout the county. The group enjoyed a delicious turkey dinner prepared by the Noble House and then participated in a lively auction of donated items. The last meeting was held in October where State Representative Mike Dobrinski spoke on many issues directly affecting our communities as well as retired professionals specifically. OREA Northwest Director Linda Reames also spoke briefly giving us a legislative update. The Blaine County Retired Educators invite all retired educational personnel to join this active group. Our next meeting will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, February 10 at the Noble House.

The Caddo County Retired Educators held its monthly meeting Dec. 9 at the Caddo Kiowa technology center in Fort Cobb. President Paula Squires called the meeting to order. Linda Harrison gave the December devotion entitled “Song in the Storm.” There were 11 members present, along with 25 guests. The guests were third and fourth grade girls with their instructor, Brandy Jones, from the Mountain View-Gotebo Elementary School. To show their appreciation for the entertainment, the retired educators voted to present Ms. Jones with a check to be used as she sees fit.

Following the entertainment, reports were given by Treasurer, Sandra Whaley and Membership Chair, Donna Weaver.

New business was discussed concerning any upcoming bad weather. It was decided if roads are bad and CKTC is closed , that the group would not meet. The group also voted to present a check to the CKTC to show appreciation for allowing the group to use the facilities for the November meeting. The next meeting will begin at 10:30 a.m. January 13. Sabra Tucker, OREA Executive Director, will present the program.
