WATONGA – Blaine County residents celebrated Independence Day this past weekend with three days of family, food and fireworks as the holiday fell on a Sunday this year, bringing an extra day off on Monday after the festivities.

In Watonga, Roman Nose State Park held its own fireworks show on Friday night before the city held a show at Huff-Lorang Park on Sunday. In Geary, locals enjoyed a fireworks show on Sunday night after a day filled with swimming, basketball and free hot dogs at L.A. Holmes Park.

Other towns across the county held events, as well. Canton Lake’s fireworks show was held on Saturday, July 3. Up in Okeene, the town celebrated on the Fourth with free swimming, turtle races, free food and more.

Geary’s Sunday celebration included a three-on-three basketball tournament that drew players from across the town and the area.
