A Busy Week

Well, y'all, it's been a busy week and it ain't over yet. As y'all know I spent all of last week trying to finish our daughter's birthday quilt. It's finally done, it's nothing to brag about but it's the thought that counts, right?

After I got that done, I decided I wanted to make a Christmas tablecloth for my coffee table. While perusing the rows and rows of fabric bolts, I spotted a perfect piece that would be great for Halloween. I placed the Fall tablecloth that I'd made last month atop the fabric to use as a pattern. Why I didn't just lay it on the table and trace around it like last time I'll never know. My brain works in mysterious ways.

None of my fabric marking pens would show up the black spiderweb fabric so I laid the tablecloth atop the fabric and pinned it about two inches larger all the way around and cut. I had it sewed up in no time and what do you know? I could not get it to fit right. I was thinking, “What the heck?” This table was cut from the trunk of a tree so it is a very irregular shape.

David took one look at it and said, 'If you turn it upside down, I bet it'll fit.' Without thinking (as usual) I had placed the fabric face down but pinned it around the old tablecloth right side up. I could probably fix it but, as David pointed out, it's Halloween so it should be a little cattywampus.

In the middle of all this, my email password suddenly stopped working and I started to panic a little. Apparently, I had been given a 'last warning' about a month prior that I needed to make some changes or I'd stop getting my mail. Figuring it was (a) a scam or (b) they didn't really mean it I forgot all about it. I went back and found the email, followed the directions and got it all back.

On Saturday I was invited to a girls' day out in Oklahoma City with our daughter and her daughters. The first stop was a store called 'City and Stars.' It's a little boutique with a buildyour- own charm bracelet or necklace bar. One could also purchase 'permanent' bracelets or anklets. That is not something I thought I'd like but I decided to give it a go since my daughter was getting one. I kind of wish I'd gotten the anklet. Maybe next time. Afterward, we got to see our new baby on the ultrasound. By the time we were done, we were all starving and went to eat fondue. Yummy!

Sunday I spent the day making and decorating cupcakes to take to our daughter's place of employment. On Monday, her co-workers made her a surprise lunch we were invited to join with a buffet of taco fixins'. Tonight we are celebrating her birthday at her favorite Italian restaurant.
