Caddo Retired Educators Meet and Plan

The Caddo County Retired Educators held its first meeting of the school year September 9 at the Caddo Kiowa Technology Center in Fort Cobb.

There were 14 members present, along with one visitor. President Paula Squires called the meeting to order. Member Harvey Mead lead the group in the flag salute as well as presenting a devotional to the group. Committee reports were given by Scholarship Chairman Julie Mead, Membership Chairman Donna Weaver, and Legislative Chairman Harvey Mead.

Allen Klien resigned his position as treasurer because of ill health and Sandra Whaley was voted in as the new treasurer for the group. The new Caddo Kiowa Technology Center Superintendent, Jennie Nunn, introduced herself to the group and gave a short program about CKTC.

There was discussion and agreement to pay expenses of delegates attending the OREA convention in Oklahoma City October 7-8. Delegates this year are Harvey Mead, Debra Mickley, Karen Mason and Debbie Tyson.

The group also discussed the next meeting, set for 11:30 a.m. October 15. The group will meet at Eichen’s in Okarche for lunch, then take a tour of the Clydesdales at Express Ranch in Yukon and then on to the Baked Bear in Yukon to enjoy ice cream and a short devotional. If you were unable to attend this month’s meeting and are interested in attending in October, please give member Linda Harrison a call so she can get a good head count for Eishen’s.

The Caddo County Retired Educators is comprised of not just retired teachers, but also anyone who has retired and was employed by a public school or technology center and they encourage you to become a part of this active group. Following a delicious lunch prepared by the culinary staff of CKCT, the meeting was adjourned.
