The Caddo County Retired Educators held its monthly meeting on April 14. There were 13 members present, along with one guest.
President Paula Squires called the meeting to order. Secretary Christi Smith read the minutes from the last meeting. The treasurer’s report was given by reporter Debbie Tyson and Harvey Mead gave an update on Legislation bills dealing with education.
Many of the Cost-of-Living Adjustment bills for retired educators that were introduced in this legislative session were sent to an actuary and will not be heard again until next year’s legislative session.
Member Mike Weaver set up the schedule for the April meeting. The group toured two programs offered by Caddo Kiowa Technology Center, the newest program being the Electric Lineman Training Program, taught by Shawn Adams. He presented the group with an interesting video explaining the program that CKTC now offers its students interested in becoming linemen.
The group also toured the welding and metal fabrication class taught by Terry Heath. Following a delicious lunch prepared by the culinary class, the meeting was dismissed. The next meeting for the group will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 12. The program for May will be setting the schedule for next year’s meetings, which will begin in September.
