Candidate filing for the boards of education in Oklahoma started Monday and will continue through today, Dec. 4.
As of press time Wednesday morning, Shawn Cox had filed for his current seat on the Watonga board, Greg Heath filed for Canton School Board and Erica Elaine Shaloy filed for the Okeene board. There had been no filings for the Geary School Board.
Patrick Hayes and Lance Shenold, both of Anadarko, had filed for candidacy for the Caddo-Kiowa Tech Center seat 5.
Brandon Strack of Hydro had filed for seat 5 at Hydro-Eakly Public Schools, part of which is in Caddo County. Ethan Murray of Calumet had filed for seat 5 at the Hinton Public Schools, which also lies in Caddo County.
Jessica Winegard filed for candidacy for seat 5 at the Calumet School Board. Most of Calumet lies in Canadian County, but some of the Calumet addresses are in Caddo County.
The election will take place February 11, but those candidates who are unopposed will be declared the victor by acclamation, saving the cost of an election.
