Changes, New Programs Coming to CTTC

Chisholm Trail Career Tech is gearing up for its summer class sessions. Of special interest is the inaugural class for commercial drivers licenses – CDL. The first five-week course will begin July 10 and according to Dan Craig, small business manager at CTTC, there may be one or two openings for the class, although preference was given to companies who needed employees trained in truck driving. The cost for the class is $4,800 and there may be some financial incentives available to students. The second class will get underway in early August.

Additionally, there will be 10 hours of continuing education for those with CLEET certification offered on June 20. In order to maintain certification, individuals holding a law enforcement certificate has to maintain continuing education hours annually. This opportunity makes it possible for area law enforcement to gain their hours without traveling down state and having to take time off work for classes and travel.

Other first responders can also gain experience. Volunteer fire fighters are able to take a low ropes course at CTTC June 1617. If space is available after volunteers are enrolled, full time fire fighters may be accepted into the course.

Plans for the career tech include adding an licensed practical nurse class, which readies the participants for entering the workforce in less than two years.
