Jech has represented Senate District 26 since 2014. He is a graduate of Kingfisher High School and Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
While operating an insurance agency in Kingfisher, Jech became involved with the city council, chamber of commerce and other community organizations before running for Senate. While in office, Jech pointed to several pieces of legislation he is proud to have passed.
“We’ve increased funding for rural fire departments, REAP (Rural Economic Action Plan) programs, mental health programs, significant teacher pay increases as well as long overdue pay raises for OHP troopers and Senior Nutrition programs,” Jech said.
He pointed in particular to HB 1880, which he coauthored with Rep. Tammy West, R-OKC. HB 1880 created “a restorative justice program for non-violent offenders who qualify for a deferred prosecution agreement,” Jech said, on a fiveyear pilot program that’s directed by citizen-led mediation panels. “It’s intended to provide the opportunity for non-violent offenders to enter an alternative program that’s victim centered.”
Jech said if reelected he will focus on legislation to get a handle on the state’s medical marijuana industry, diversify the state economy, review the overall state tax structure and “protect rural schools” – a likely reference to the voucher programs defeated at the 2021 legislative session, which Jech opposed.
Jech can be found on Facebook at Senator Darcy Jech. He has been endorsed for reelection by the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Ag PAC, and was the only state senator the group endorsed.
