Dobrinski Completes Legislative Energy Horizon Institute

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Mike Dobrinski, ROkeene, recently completed the Legislative Energy Horizon Institute a national conference focusing on North American energy infrastructure, which wrapped its final session Nov. 19 in Washington, D.C.

'I greatly appreciate this opportunity to attend Legislative Energy Horizon Institute to help me better serve the citizens of House District 59,' Dobrinski said. 'The measures created by our current administration endanger our petroleum industry and hurt lower income Oklahomans the most. High fuel prices, supply chain shortages, higher electricity costs and the resulting historic inflation are hurting our families, businesses and communities like never before.'

Dobrinski was elected to represent House District 59 in 2020. As a freshman legislator, he served as vice chair of the House Utilities Committee. Dobrinski also served as vice chair of the House Select Committee on Utilities, established after the historic 2021 winter storm left thousands of Oklahomans footing extraordinarily high utility bills.

'We must establish a long-term plan to reduce our emissions and create more environmentally friendly ways to provide the energy our society needs,' Dobrinski added. 'This is the time for our states to lead the way.'

Since its inception in 2009, the LEHI has educated state and provincial policymakers on the North American energy infrastructure and delivery system. The Institute's comprehensive curriculum helps legislators understand how energy systems and infrastructure work, how energy infrastructure is built and financed, and the regulation and market impacts on energy infrastructure.

LEHI's first session was held at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory campus in Richland, Wa., in early August, and the second session took place in Washington, D.C. in mid-November. Graduates receive a certificate on energy policy planning through the University of Idaho.

Rep. Mike Dobrinski, a Republican, represents House District 59 in the Oklahoma House of Representatives. His district includes Dewey County and portions of Blaine, Canadian, Kingfisher and Woodward counties.
