Blaine County youth spent the day learning vital safety skills during a highly successful Farm Safety Day on May 6. The event provided practical instruction designed to prepare young people in agricultural communities for real-world situations they may encounter at home, on the farm, or in the workplace.
Farm Safety Day was made possible through the leadership of the Blaine County Conservation District, along with the dedication of amazing volunteers. Youth got hands-on learning experience focused on gun safety, ATV safety, tractor safety, fire safety, animal safety, oil rig safety, and electrical/highline safety.
Devon Energy employees also participated in Blaine County’s Farm Safety Day, teaching fourth-grade students from across the county how to stay safe around oil fields through handson demonstrations and interactive discussions.
“These life skills are so important, especially in our ag communities,” said Blaine County OSU Extension Director Hagen Puentes. “It was awesome to see so many young people engaged and eager to learn. Thank you to every volunteer who helped teach and inspire our future leaders – we couldn’t do it without you!”
