The saying goes ‘One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.’ The residents of Geary have the chance May 20 to prove that adage. That is the date set for a townwide garage sale. To take part, according to Missy Buser with the Chamber of Commerce, go by Bank 7, the Bank of Oklahoma, or city hall and get a permit. There is a $5 fee for single family sales and $10 for multifamily sales. The permit purchase puts your location on the list of sales being printed for participants. The giant sale will go on rain or shine, Buser said. Then, clean out your closets and dresser drawers. Focus on getting organized and making sure everything is clean and neat. Pricing can be done by the table – like all items $1 – or by the item. The single item pricing takes longer and might be reserved for higher priced items. You can place items on tables or blankets, put them in storage containers or put boards over two sturdy boxes. Breakable items should be placed on a stable surface. Other things you’ll need include a table and chairs, a cash box and calculator, or at least a notepad and pencils. Be prepared to negotiate and make bundle deals. After all, the idea is to get organized, make more space and bring in a little cash.
