Harvest Fest Set by Germans From Russia

You are invited to attend Harvest Fest 2024 on October 12 in Oklahoma City at Our Lord’s Lutheran Church, 2900 W. Hefner Rd. The doors open at 11:30 a.m. and a meal will be served at noon. The suggested donation for the meal is $15 per plate, which will include German sausage, bierocks, German hot potato salad, sweet and sour red cabbage, sauerkraut, kuchen and homemade root beer.

The meal will be followed by a short presentation by Mike Martens of Fairview, describing his research on the history of Turkey Red Wheat that was brought to America by the Germans from Russia. He is a long-time farmer and rancher. He is a board member of the Major County Historical Society and works for the Major County Historical Park and Museum. The Park and Museum is a 160-acre working farm where the annual two-day Fairview Threshing Bee takes place. This year that celebration will be held on September 27-28.
