Members of various trade subcontractors were hard at work Tuesday in the stiffling heat as the footers and rough utilities were put in at the Zona Verde home build on Weigle Avenue. The City of Watonga is funding the build and the house, when completed by the end of June — yes, less than two weeks away — will be sold at a moderate price. Plans are to construct a second Zona Verde home on the remainder of the lot, which the city agreed to purchase last week. Hopes are the construction is the beginning of the end of the housing crisis in town.
