AS COVID-19 cases continue to rise across Oklahoma, Blaine County has started distributing the vaccine to those who qualify.

The Oklahoma State Department of Health is holding vaccine distribution events throughout the state.

The Blaine County Health Department has vaccines available on Wednesdays by appointment.

Appointments can be made by calling the health department at 580-623-7974, or by visiting the Blaine County Health Department Facebook page.

To receive this second phase of vaccines, you must meet one of three criteria:

• Be a first responder.

• Be a healthcare worker.

• Be over the age of 65.

A form of identification will be required upon arrival to show that you meet one of these three requirements.

The third phase of vaccine distribution will include teachers, staff, and residents in other educational settings, according to the state. All Oklahoma residents will be eligible in the fourth phase.

Sign-options are underway for vaccine appointments on Jan. 13.

The Oklahoma State Department of Health asks that you not sign up or attend the events if you do not meet these qualifications.

The Blaine County Health Department has said the Oklahoma State Department of Health has begun installing Points of Dispensing Sites or “PODS” across the state.

These “PODS” are used to increase the safety of those receiving the vaccine.

For more information about the vaccine, you can visit the Oklahoma State Department of Health’s “Vaccine Information” webpage or by calling 211.
