Jech Awarded for Legislative Work

OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Darcy Jech, R-Kingfisher, was recently recognized by American Farmers and Ranchers (AFR), Oklahoma Farm Bureau (OKFB) and the Oklahoma Historical Society for his legislative achievements and priorities during the 2020 and 2021 sessions.

Jech was named the 2020 AFR legislative champion and the 2022 OKFB Senate Champion for his commitment to advancing the agricultural industry and his service as the chairman of the Natural Resources and Regulatory Services Appropriations Subcommittee. Numerous agricultural projects have been funded under Jech’s purview, including additional monies for Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry meat inspectors and the Oklahoma State University Ag Experiment Station, which is the state’s premier agriculture, natural resources, and life sciences research and technology development agency.

“My agricultural roots run deep, and I know how important the advancement of this industry is to the future of our state,” Jech said. “I’m honored by these recognitions and will continue to work to protect our agricultural interests while I’m in the Senate.”

Jech will also receive this month the Oklahoma Historical Society’s (OHS) Guardian of History Award, which will recognize the legislator for his impact on helping the organization collect, preserve and share Oklahoma’s history.

“History is fundamentally important for all of us to learn and understand,” Jech said. “We’re blessed to live in a state with such a rich history – from the land run to the birth of Route 66, Oklahoma has evolved over the years to become a destination for visitors across the globe. It’s been an honor to work with the Historical Society to ensure generations to come can learn Oklahoma’s history.”

In addition to his role as chairman of the Natural Resources and Regulatory Services Appropriations Subcommittee, Jech also serves as the chairman of the Senate Rules Committee and the Rural Caucus.
