A Lamp to My Feet

Greetings to you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It is good for me to once again take a few minutes of your time to share the word of God with you. This week, we are looking at what Paul wrote about Jesus in Romans 1:4, “and declared to be the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead.” The resurrection of Jesus from the dead was the ultimate sign of his Godhood. No other declaration is as definitive as this.

I really like the song “10,000 Angels”, but there is one major mistake in the song. The last stanza ends with this statement: “He gave Himself to die; Salvation’s wondrous plan was done.” Folks, His death wasn’t the end of the plan. He had to be raised from the dead in order to prove that He was the Son of God. Without the resurrection, His death would have had no power over Satan. His death would have been like the death of any other person

Ċhristian baptism is a picture of the gospel plan. Paul writes in Romans 6:3-5, “Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection,”

His resurrection is proof of our resurrection. Without the resurrection, the gospel message has no power. Next week we will explore the gospel message further. Have a great week!
