A Lamp to My Feet

Greetings to you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. For the last 2 weeks we have commented on the gospel. Today, we begin to look at a description of those who are against God and refuse to obey His word. This begins in Romans 1:1823, “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.”

Notice these enemies of God are ungodly (not God like) and unrighteous (not right). They suppress the truth. God makes Himself known not only in the Word but also in creation. They refuse to honor or thank God. They are fools and exchange the glory of God for something earthly.

I hate to say it folks, but our nation at the present time is ungodly and unrighteous. Our government makes decisions which completely exclude God and His word. We as a people ignore God’s word and blindly follow whoever promises to give us the most.

We must know God’s word in order to know what is godly and righteous. In the end we will be judged according to God’s word and not the words of man. In Hosea 4:6 God said, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” What are you doing to increase your knowledge of God’s word?
