Premier Police Training founder and president Don McCrea came to Watonga Monday to teach area law enforcement officers the art of de-escalating already tense situations.
The author of multiple books and an officer himself for more than 35 years, McCrea says “The best way for an officer to de-escalate a situation is not to be the cause of the escalation in the first place.”
In addition to his time wearing the badge, Mc-Crea was an instructor at a state police academy and a program coordinator for a university law enforcement program.
Premier Police Training is committed to providing officers and departments with clarity in Fourth Amendment issues, including search and seizure and use of force.
Those topics are part of standard police training, but by using the newest methods in adult learning, the class is designed to provide officers with definitive answers taught in manner that allows the participant to understand the information, engage with it and retain it.
Officers from Blaine County, Geary and Watonga were on hand for the class.
