Lakeria Kelley a 23-yearold from Dallas, Texas is a senior broadcast journalism major at Langston University in Langston.

She is now an intern at The Watonga Republican where she will put her skills to the test.

Kelley is the youngest of four siblings, the only girl. Growing up, she always had a passion for journalism starting with her reporting show by going around asking her neighbors questions at 8- years-old. During high school she would put on TV productions with former classmates.

With her spare time Kelley likes reading her favorite book, “Becoming” by Michelle Obama. She has been a dancer for 15 years in the jazz, contemporary and majorette styles which help her express her creativity.

She joined Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc in 2018, where she hosts and attends community service events around Oklahoma City. She is also a member at large for the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) where she uplifts African American women.

At Langston University, she worked as a staff writer for two years at the Gazette newspaper, gathering local stories on campus. She produced her own radio production called the King and Kelley sports and entertainment show on KALU 89.3 FM

Kelley is on schedule to graduate from Langston University in the summer of 2020. After graduating she plans to pursue a career in the public relations field as a publicist. She hopes to generate and manage publicity for a company, brand or public figures, branding the clients by getting magazine, TV and website coverage.
