WATONGA – As marijuana proliferates across the state of Oklahoma, it’s not always easy to tell the legal side of the industry from the underground, unlawful activity.

To address concerns of organized crime, the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics will host an educational forum in Watonga on Aug. 10 at 6:30 p.m. at Watonga High School.

Mark Woodward, education officer for the OBN, will help Blaine County residents understand how law enforcement is tackling the problem and how they can help.

Woodward will also address the Kiwanis club on Wednesday, Aug. 4 at 12 p.m. at the Watonga Senior Citizens Center.

Woodward has been the OBN’s education officer, legislative liaison and public information officer since July 1995. He is a member and regional secretary/treasurer for the Association of Oklahoma Narcotics Enforcers, and served as chairman of the Criminal Justice Committee for the State Drug and Alcohol Policy Board.

Woodward currently serves on the Oklahoma Drug Endangered Children Advisory Board, the Jeremiah House Treatment and Recovery Center Board, and the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Advisory Council. He was named 2004 Regional Narcotics Officer of the Year.
