The people of Oklahoma Oil & Natural Gas provided $185,000 in classroom supplies to 374 teachers across the state this summer.

Oklahoma City, Okla.– The people of Oklahoma Oil & Natural Gas continued their commitment to supporting education this summer by providing 374 teachers from school districts across the state with more than $185,000 worth of classroom supplies, equipment, and hands-on activities.

The Oklahoma Energy Resources Board (OERB) held energy education workshops at Santa Fe South Charter School in Oklahoma City and Jenks High Schools this summer. The workshops are led by Oklahoma teachers who teach other educators how to use one of nine energy-related curricula in their classrooms. The curricula provide teachers from kindergarten through.12th grade Oklahoma-based, realworld applications to supplement their existing lesson plans, including science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) concepts.

Upon completion of the workshop, teachers receive a curriculum guide aligned to Oklahoma academic standards and a free kit of classroom equipment and supplies, worth up to $1,300. The materials, which range from graphing calculators and graduated cylinders to pencils and rulers, provide a much-needed boost in classroom resources.

Laketa Ille teaches 4th grade at Dale Elementary. She said she would recommend the OERB workshop to other teachers.

“I cannot wait to tie in what our kids in Oklahoma know about oil and natural gas with science class,” said Clark. “The realworld tie in is so cool.”

All of the materials and training are voluntarily funded by the people of Oklahoma Oil & Natural Gas.
