Oklahoma Gas and Electric has announced its deadline for next year’s award of its Positive Energy Scholarship Application. That deadline is Feb. 23, 2023.
The scholarship offers $15,000 annually to students who are graduating high school seniors who live in and OG&E service area. A service map area is available at the company’s website.
The student must attend a college in Oklahoma or Arkansas; have an unweighted cumulative GPA of 3.25 or better; have an ACT score of 25 or greater and/or an SAT score of 1200 or better. They also give preference to students with STEM majors, pursuing a degree that promotes and leads to a career in the energy sector and shows financial need.
Once the scholarship has been awarded, it may be renewed annually for three more years provided the student maintains a GPA of 3.0 or better.
The award may be used for tuition, fees, books and on-campus room and board. Payments are made in two installments (fall and spring semester) each academic year directly to the student’s school after proof of enrollment has been provided to the Oklahoma City Community Foundation. Payments are issued in the following academic year. No more than six credit hours may be completed online each semester.
The OGE Positive Energy Scholarship was established in 2018 by the OGE Energy Corp. Foundation. This scholarship encourages worthy students from the OG&E service territory to pursue a degree in higher education. This is an endowed fund of the Oklahoma City Community Foundation.
