Okeene Student Named OFB Scholar

Avery Fisher of Okeene was recently awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers committee.

The scholarship is awarded to students who plan to pursue a degree in an agriculture-related field at an Oklahoma college or university and who desire to contribute to agriculture and rural Oklahoma.

“Supporting scholarships today means strengthening agriculture tomorrow,” said Allison Theis, OKFB YF&R chair. “When we invest in our youth, we invest in the future of our communities and our industry. We are incredibly proud of the young individuals selected and look forward to their bright future.”

Fisher plans to attend Oklahoma State University to pursue a degree in agricultural education. She was one of nine high school students – one from each OKFB district – and one Collegiate Farm Bureau member who received the scholarship.

Other scholarship recipients include Bryan Holt, Ellis County; Ella Hart, Greer County; Rance Howard, Jefferson County; Jacob Eastwood, Choctaw County; Mylie Hance, Ottawa County; Ember Sandoval, Woods County; Noah Price, McClain County; Teagan Neal, Creek County; and Avery Gardner, Cameron University.

The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers program allows members of Farm Bureau between the ages of 18 and 35 to develop leadership skills, be involved in their local communities, compete in contests to win valuable prizes and develop longlasting friendships with people from across the state and country.
