When the Oklahoma State Department of Health released numbers for Aug. 18, it showed 49,326 confirmed cases of the Covid-19 virus, up 612 from the day before.

There were 17 new deaths reported, taking that count to 682 statewide. The number of active cases, however, 7,274, was down 241 from the previous report and recoveries were up 839, to 41,370 statewide.

In Blaine County, the picture is a little less clear, with the state reporting 46 cases, 40 of which it lists as recovered. Broken out by city, the numbers are one in Hydro, which may be tabulated to Caddo County, two in Longdale, which could be added to the Major County figure, but seven in Watonga, all of which lies in Blaine County proper.

Nationally, there have been 5,438,325 cases, up 35,112 from the previous report. Deaths are also up by 445, to 170,497, while there are 3,402,248 active cases, up 2,154 from the daily report the day before.

There have been 1,865,580 recoveries nationwide, also up, by 32,513, very close to the number of new cases reported on the same date.
