Pedestrian Dies From Auto-Ped Collision

A pedestrian died early Nov. 4 after he was fatally struck by a car west of Watonga.

The pedestrian was walking east about 5:30 a.m. on the shoulder of US 270, halfmile west of County Road N2520 about 5 miles west of Watonga, according to a report by Oklahoma state trooper Jason Burch. At the same time, a 2011 Ford Mustang driven by Justin Gundlach, 23, of Norman, was eastbound on US 270. Gundlach came over a hill, and the pedestrian entered the eastbound lane of traffic and was struck by the Mustang.

Gundlach was uninjured. His condition at the time of the accident was listed as normal in the report.

The condition of the pedestrian at the time of the accident was not known.

The cause of collision was listed as “deliberate intent, pedestrian in roadway.”

The name of the pedestrian was withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The Blaine County Sheriff’s Office, Watonga Fire Department, Watonga EMS, and Oklahoma State Medical Examiner’s Office also assisted in the investigation.
