Retired Educators Begin School Year Meetings

The Caddo County retired educators will hold its first meeting of the new school year on Monday, September 11. The agenda for the month will be information concerning legal and end of life preparations.

Barry Squires and Larry Eschiti will be in attendance to provide the group with information and answer any questions that individuals may have.

Retired members should be receiving a schedule of the dates of each of the meetings for this school year by mail. If you are a retired educator, please consider joining this active group. It’s a great way to meet and visit with other retired school employees and a way to keep up with issues concerning retirement and benefits.

If you are a newly retired educator and have not been receiving any information about the meetings, the Caddo County Retired Educators meet on the second Monday of each month at the Caddo Kiowa Technology Center in Fort Cobb.

This year's meetings have an exciting line-up of activities in which the group will participate.

The Blaine County Retired Teachers held an executive meeting at the Watonga Library Aug. 14 to plan for the meetings of the coming year.

The Retired Teachers consist of any retired person that has retired in Blaine County as an educator, bus driver, lunchroom worker, para professional, secretary or maintenance personnel. All are considered as having worked in education and involved with the students daily. Everyone is encouraged to join if you are a retired school employee as it is time to get information about retirement benefits and updates on the legislative session.

All members will soon receive a card with the meeting times and dates. All meetings will be held at the Noble House in Watonga with lunch at 11:30 a.m. and the meeting to follow.

The meal is catered by the Noble House staff. The cost of being a member of the Retired Teachers Association is $2 per year and the cost of the meal is $15 for each meeting, with gratuity included. Not only is this informative, but it is a good time to visit with colleagues from around the county.

The first meeting will be at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 11 at the Noble House and everyone is invited to attend. If you have any questions, please call a member you know or call Yvonne Christensen at 580-623-0152 or email christen@pldi.net.

Hope to see you on Sept. 11. You’ll be glad you came and we will be glad to see you.
