Hi, everybody! Hasn’t the rain been wonderful? Just a nice gentle rain now and then. Thank goodness the tornadoes last week didn’t do more damage. Oncce again it hit Cole, where our granddaughter lives. This time they were smart and went to Washington, Okla. They have a big gymnasium there to use as a shelter for the locals. When I talked to her, she didn’t think they had received any more damage from this tornado. We’re just glad she is safe.
Guess what? We have a date for the defensive driving class. It will be held on Tuesday June 13. Please check in by 9 a.m. and bring your driver's license. You must bring it and $5 for the book for the class. We’ll break for lunch around noon, and you can eat at the center at a cost of $7 or you can leave and come back, or you can bring your lunch. Let us know if you are definitely going to attend now that you know when it will be.
Please mark your calendars for June 2. We will be holding our annual chicken noodle dinner that evening from 5-7 p.m. There will also be a cake auction around 6 p.m. Gene Matli makes the noodles from scratch and they are soooo good. This is one of our main fundraisers during the year and the Masons have agreed to help us with it. We appreciate them so much. They often help people in the Watonga area and have helped us a lot with our fundraisers.
We will need donated baked goods for the auction, so think about it and get your recipes ready!
We had a nice group get together for games, food and music Saturday night. We had 30 in attendance and some new faces joined us. We had a great time with music played by Tom Autrey and David Green. Several of the guys play pool. They’ll let ladies play too, if they want.
Our regulars delivered meals for us last week. They were Pat Brewer, Sharon Barnes, Brenda and Curt Stein, Janice Hood and Vernon Brickman. We appreciate all our volunteers that help with this program. It helps a lot of people have a hot meal.
Pat Brewer donated to the center in memory of Wayne Maddux. Karen Pope and the Noble House donated in memory of Mike Darnell. We are very thankful for the donations we receive.
Our quilters were in to work on the quilt Thursday. They were Judy Curtin, Louise Cooper and Estalene Teply. They have a good time visiting while they sew.
Another thing to mark on your calendar is that the center will be closed Monday, May 29 for Memorial Day. There will be several activities that day so you can be ready to attend one of those.
Here are our menus for the next several days. Remember to call before 10 a.m. for delivery and before noon for pickup. We’ll have it ready for you. You get a full meal with salad, drink and dessert for $7. What a bargain!
