Hi, everyone! I hope all you dads had a great Father’s Day. It was a quiet day around our house. After church, lunch and a nap we watched a movie. It was bedtime before we knew it. Except I still had to write my news, so I’m doing it now!
We had a very interesting defensive driving class Tuesday. WE had 24 people attend and Mary Lee Jones from State Farm Insurance sponsored the class. She also provided doughnuts for everyone. Thank you so much Mary Lee! We really appreciate all you did for us. We all needed that refresher and we learned some new things, too.
On Thursday the quilters were Louise Cooper, Judy Curtin and Gene Matli. They are getting a lot of sewing done on the quilt. Come in and join them on Thursday morning. They sew until about 11:30 and they would really be glad to have you.
Saturday, June 24 we’ll meet again for games and music. And of course, the food. Make plans to come down and join in the fun. Bring a snack to share with the others, you’ll have a good time. We meet from 6-9 p.m.
Well, ladies, it’s time to start cleaning out your closets. The Senior Citizens Center is going to have a garage sale. It is scheduled for the first weekend in August. I know that’s the ‘tax fee weekend’ for school items but we’ll have lots of other things for you to look at and take home. Mark your calendars now and plan to come check out our goods. We’ll appreciate it.
Exercise classes are still going strong. We average 20 or more each day and meet on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9-10 a.m. Nothing hard, just a good workout. Come and join us. You don’t have to be a member of the senior citizens. We’ll be looking for you.
These are the folks that delivered our meals for us last week. Some even worked two days. They were Pat Brewer, Brenda Stein, Curt Stein, Janice Hood, Sharon Barnes and Vernon Brickman. A big thanks to all of you for your help.
Our cook, Dorothy, has been working with a broken wrist, but she’s had some special help from her son Steven and her grandson Denver. They’ve helped out in the kitchen while she’s been taking care of her wrist. We sure thank them for all their help.
Here’s our menu for the next few days. Call before 10 a.m. for delivered meals and before noon for take out.
Thursday, June 22 – Ham and beans Friday – Ham and sweet potatoes Monday – Chili and soup Tuesday – Spaghetti and meat sauce Wednesday – Kiwanis meets at noon, we eat at 11 a.m.
Thursday, June 29 – Chicken strips Friday – Roast beef And biscuits and gravy by donation every Thursday morning beginning at 8.
I hope you all have a great week. Sounds like it’s going to get hot. Oh, well, it’s almost summer.
