Hi, everyone! Here it is August already. Have you got your turkey for Thanksgiving yet? It will be here before we know it.

AND…It’s time for our garage sale at the center. We’re all ready. The sale will be all day Thursday, Friday and Saturday. We’ve got more stuff, from baby items to bedding to kitchenware, clothing and all types of miscellaneous. We’ve probably got what you’ve been looking for. Come in and check it out. We’re not accepting any more donations because we just don’t have the room. But we do appreciate all that’s been given to us for the sale.

Last week Frances Waggoner brought in some tiny new potatoes and okra. I brought some of the potatoes home and cooked them tonight. They sure were good. Thank you, Frances.

We received several memorial donations last week. Volamae Marks and Eloise Espy each donated in memory of Fred Lucas. Larry Major donated in memory of Frank Lucas and Bill Seitter. John and I donated in honor of Chris Bordelon, Fred Lucas and Bill Seitter. We are very thankful for all these memorial donations. Joe and Teresa Bryan renewed their memberships to the senior center. Thank you both for sticking with us.

Last week’s meal deliverers were Peggy Franks, Pat Brewer, Sharon Barnes, Brenda and Curt Stein, Janice Hood and Vernon Brickman. Thanks to all of you.

This is our menu for the next few days. Remember to call us before 10 a.m. for meals to be delivered or call before noon for orders to go. Maybe you can come in and have a meal with us while you shop our garage sale items, except Saturday. We won’t be serving a meal that day.

Thursday, Aug. 3 – Sauerkraut and sausage Friday – Indian tacos Monday -- Taco salad Tuesday – Breaded chicken breast Wednesday – Kiwanis meets at noon, we eat at 11 a.m.

Thursday, Aug. 10 – Breaded pork loin Friday – Ham and sweet potatoes.

We haven’t had many takers for our biscuits and gravy, so we may just cut it out. I’ll let you know for sure if we decide to quit.

Now, I’m sure we won’t sell everything in our garage sale by Monday so if you can’t make it this weekend come in next week, I’m sure we’ll still have plenty.

I hope you’ve been staying in where it’s cool this week. The weatherman says we may bet a bit of a break next week, highs only in the 90s. Whatever, we’ll get through this heat. Then more rain and before we know it, it will be getting cold again. That’s Oklahoma.

Take care of yourselves. ‘Til next week …
