SENIOR CENTER NEWS

Hi, everyone! I hope you’ve had a good week. Mine was good. It seems like they pass so quickly anymore. I hardly get my news written and it’s time to do it again.

Volamae Marks renewed her membership with us last week. We’re glad you did, Volamae, we enjoy seeing you when you come in.

Judy Curtin donated by hiring someone to wash the windows. Thank you, Judy, they probably needed to be washed.

Several memorial donations arrived this week. Dr. Curtis and Liz Schenk donated in memory of Fred Lucas and Louis Hood. The Domestic Engineers donated in memory of Louis Hood. That group includes Mary May, Sharon Barnes, Jim and Mae Thompson, and Brenda and Curt Stein. I know the families appreciate them as well.

Quilters last week were Judy Curtin and Estalene Teply. Without more quilters it’s going to take longer to finish the quilt they are working on. Please consider coming in to help them with this project, I know they would appreciate it. They meet at about 9 a.m. on Thursday mornings and work until about 11:30.

I was told they have some people scheduled to speak to the group after exercise on the next two Fridays. On November 10 it will be Patty Becerra from McGraw Realtors. She is a certified probate real estate specialist. Plan on being there if you are interested.

On November 17 it will be Cindy Harris from Pioneer Telephone. She will be discussing the Affordable Connectivity Program being offered by Pioneer. Each will come in around 10 a.m. for their talks. It should be interesting and informative.

Saturday November 11 we’ll be meeting for games and music. We start around 6 p.m. and stay until about 9 p.m. And we have food. If you would like to join us, come on down. Bring some type of snack to share with everyone. We have several types of cards and dominoes that we play and some of the guys play pool.

Sharon Barnes delivered meals on two days last week. On the other days Curt and Brenda Stein, Janice Hood and Vernon Brickman delivered them. Thanks to all of you for your help.

This is our menu for the next several days. Call us before 10 a.m. to have one delivered and before noon for one to go.

Thursday, Nov. 9 – Chicken strips Friday – Breaded chicken breast Monday – Chili and vegetable soup Tuesday – Baked potatoes Wednesday – Kiwanis meets at noon, we eat at 11 a.m.

Thursday, Nov. 16 – Liver and onions Friday – Fried chicken And we have biscuits and gravy on Thursday mornings beginning at 8 a.m. Come in to eat or get one to go.

Well, I think that is all my news for this week. Take care of yourselves, stay well and stay safe.
