Hi, everyone! Didn’t we have a beautiful weekend? I hope you had a chance to get out and enjoy it. We had a wonderful time Sunday at the Senior Citizen’s Center. Both our children, Shannon and John, Jr., along with all their kids and some in-laws met there Sunday afternoon to visit. It was great. Some of them played pool under Grandpa’s watch. It was really a good day and we made plans to get together again for Thanksgiving.
Saturday night we had 35 come in for games, food and music. We all had a good time with plenty to eat. And great music provided by Tom Autrey and David Greene. I don’t know if we’ll meet the Saturday after Thanksgiving, but I will let you know in next week’s column.
Mike Russell renewed his membership with us. Thank you, Mike, we’re sure glad to have you as part of our group.
Basil and Danna Taylor and John and Sharon Gates donated in memory of Louis Hood. Thanks to all of you for remembering Louis.
We had several other donations which we sure appreciated. Mark Wray brought in bell peppers and Connie Burcham brought in tomatoes. Margie Smith and Joyce Rogers brought in cans. Joyce and Smoky Rogers brought in Best Choice labels and so did Loretta Grove. Loretta also brought in a puzzle. The Watonga Christian Church donated to the center and we are very grateful for these gifts.
Last week, Judy Curtin and Estalene Teply came in and worked on the quilt and there is a new quilt hanging on the wall, made by Maxine Strack. She must stay very busy!
Last week, Susan Shrader, Connie George, Sharon Barnes, Janice Hood, Curt and Brenda Stein and Vernon Brickman delivered our meals. We’re so thankful for all of you and your service to this program. We couldn’t do it without you.
Patty Becerra, who was scheduled to speak at the center on Friday couldn’t make it. She’ll reschedule for another date and I will let you know when she will be here.
Friday, Nov. 17, Cindy Harris from Pioneer Telephone will be here to discuss the Internet. She’ll speak after exercise so it will be around 10 a.m. Everyone is welcome, you don’t have to be a member of the Senior Citizens to sit in on this discussion.
Also on the 17th, we’ll have the ladies from Mercy Hospital here around 10:30 a.m. to check blood pressure and blood sugar. It, too, is free and open to the public.
On Monday, Nov. 20, the Cheyenne Quilt Guild will hold its regular meeting at 7 p.m. If you are interested in quilting, please come to this meeting. You will get a lot of good information.
Here’s our menu for the next few days. If you need a meal delivered, please call before 10 a.m. Call before noon for one to go.
