SENIOR CENTER NEWS

Hi, everyone! I hope you had a great holiday weekend. That rain we got on Saturday was really something. We held off until it was over to go to the senior center for game night. We had 18 come in to play games and visit. Then the next thing you know, the sun is shining brightly. That’s Oklahoma weather for you! I’m glad we didn’t’ get any of the bad stuff. WE’ve been really lucky during all the recent storms.

Anyway, we had a good time Saturday night. David supplied the music and we had lots of good food. We’ll be meeting again on June 8.

The quilt that is currently in the frame is from Velma Gould. It appears to be twin size. Very pretty. Last week’s quilters were Judy Curtin, Louise Cooper and Estalene Teply. Those ladies do such a good job. Their regular meeting time is Thursday after biscuits and gravy, but I’m told they are coming in on other days as well. That’s great!

Patt Curtin donated in memory of Melba Wallace. Don and Dorene Robison donated in memory of John Paul Ridenhour and Jim Sinclair. Thanks to all of you for your thoughtfulness.

Last week Hailey Boden, Sharon Barnes (two days) Brenda Stein and Vernon Brickman delivered our meals on wheels. Thank you all for giving your time to this project.

There’s not really a lot of news from last week. I know there were a lot of people in town for the alumni get together. I noticed a large group meeting under a tent next to Clewell’s. I hope they didn’t get wet when the wind and rain came through.

We went out to the IOOF Cemetery Monday for the America Legion memorial service. Not many people showed up, but it was a nice service. The speaker was Blaine County Sheriff Travis Daugherty. Two members of the sheriff’s office raised the American flag. It was all very nice. I wish more people had been there.

This is our menu for the next few days. To have a meal delivered please call us before 10 a.m. To pick one up to go, call us before 12:30.

Thursday, May 30 – Ham and beans Friday – Roast beef birthday dinner. Members with a May birthday eat free!

Monday – Soup and chili Tuesday – Chicken strips Wednesday – Kiwanis meets at noon, we eat at 11 a.m.

Thursday, June 6 – Breaded pork loin Friday – Indian tacos And don’t forget biscuits and gravy on Thursday beginning at 8 a.m. Eat in or get it to go by donation.

Well, I guess that’s about it for this week. I hope you are all doing well. Take care. Stay safe. ‘Til next week …
