SENIOR CENTER NEWS

Hi, everyone! I hope you’ve been able to stay cool during the past week. I’ve been inside mostly. We had to make several trips to OKC for doctor’s appointments. Thank goodness our car has a good air conditioner.

They are talking about possible rain in a few days. That might be nice.

I went down to the center Friday for Indian tacos. They were really good. When I walked in some ladies were playing cards. I just watched. They have a really good time.

I guess they play every Friday morning. Judy Curtin and Louise Cooper were hard at work on the new quilt. Estalene was busy playing cards.

I was told there were about 20 people at the center on Saturday night, but I didn’t make it. I went to Kingfisher with my daughter and a friend to see a play. It was a dinner/ murder mystery. It was very well presented. I didn’t know who the murderer was until we were told at the end. It was a fun evening.

The ladies will be in on Friday July 19 to check blood pressure and blood sugar. They come in around 10:30 a.m. so plan to come on down about then. They’ll be glad to check you out.

Janet Edsall brought in vegetables from her garden to share. Thanks, Janet. Lisa Seitter and Larry Major donated eggs and milk. Thanks, Lisa and Larry, those are items we can always use.

Last week Hailey Boden, Sharon Barnes, Brenda and Curt Stein and Janice Hood delivered meals on wheels. Janice delivered meals on two days. Thanks to all of you for your help.

If you need a meal delivered call before 10 a.m. and if you want to pick up a meal to go, call before 12:30 p.m.

Here’s our menu for the next few days. And don’t forget our biscuits and gravy on Thursday mornings beginning at 8 a.m.

Come and eat with us or pick it up to go for just a donation.

Thursday, July 18 – Liver and onions Friday – Fried chicken Monday – Chicken strips Tuesday – Sausage and sauerkraut Wednesday – Kiwanis meets at noon, we eat at 11 a.m.

Thursday, July 25 – Goulash Friday – Roast beef The menu is subject to change. I hope you all have a nice weekend. There were a lot of people up at Canton Lake over the Fourth of July. Lots of boats, but a lot of sunbathers. I guess they don’t mind the heat. I prefer the air conditioning.

Take care, stay safe and well. ’Til next week …
