The rain last week was wonderful. We are grateful that we have not had any noticeable hail or damaging winds. All around the birds are singing and flowers are blooming—a beautiful springtime. May 1 is known as May Day. This holiday was first celebrated in the United States in 1886 as part of the struggle for the eight-hour workday. On May 1 of that year, hundreds of thousands of workers across the country went on strike, demanding better working conditions and shorter working hours. This action sparked the labor movement and led to the establishment of May Day as a day of labor solidarity and protest.

The rain over the weekend did not dampen the Bikes and BBQ Rally. The Masons had breakfast Saturday morning at the Senior Center. Our fun and games were Saturday night and games, live music and snacks were enjoyed by more than 20 people.
Douglas Kalicki renewed his membership, and Cheyenne Quilt Guild gave the center a donation.
We welcomed Louise Cooper back to quilting. Others quilting were Martha White and Estelene Teply. The quilt they are working on is hearts and very pretty.
We have exercise class at 9 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Come join us and participate at your own level. Exercise, both mentally and physically, is recommended to keep us healthy at all ages. See you soon as the Watonga Senior Citizen Center.
