We made it through the 4th of July weekend, and now the temperatures are heating up. We have had no rain in over a week. Are these the dog days of summer? Seems so. July 6 -12 is Shark Week, so be careful when going to the local lakes and ponds.
After all the food eaten during the holiday weekend, we are sure you don’t want to cook this week. Come and eat with us at the Watonga Senior Citizens Center Monday -Friday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; except Wednesday, when we eat from 11 a.m. to noon. Our menu for the next week is: Thursday, July 10 Ham and Sweet Potatoes Friday Indian Tacos Monday Taco Salad Tuesday Chicken Spaghetti Wednesday Breaded Pork Loin (Kiwanis Meets) Thursday, July 17 Liver and Onions Friday Fried Chicken Our meals are $7 for an entrée, potatoes, vegetables, salad, homemade roll, dessert and drink. The quilters put in a new quilt in the frame and have begun handquilting. Those ladies were Louise Cooper and Martha White. If you are interested in joining them, come in on Tuesday mornings at 9 a.m. They will welcome you.
We received a memorial donation for Farrol Boyd from Richard and Sandra Hightower. Janice Hood brought in cucumbers, yellow squash and zucchini to share.
On Saturday, July 12, we will host our bimonthly Fun and Games night from 6-9 p.m. Brink a snack to share and enjoy dominoes, cards, pool and live music. Everyone is welcome.
