It is back to school time, and so we need to be mindful of that when we drive around 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Obey the school zone warnings and stop for yellow school buses. Remember the excitement of the first day of school? All the school supplies and new clothes? It has been a long time ago for me! One of my Watonga High School classmates called me last week to see about having a reunion. It will be our 60th—go Class of 1966!
All those years ago, we never dreamed we would be senior citizens and how different our lives would be. We never worried about cooking meals and exercising. Our mothers cooked for us, and we ran around doing sports or band. Now, I am going to the senior center for lunch and exercise. Our upcoming menu is: Thursday, Aug. 14 Liver and Onions Friday Fried Chicken Monday Chicken Strips Tuesday Chicken Casserole Wednesday Barbecue Ribs (Kiwanis Meets) Thursday, Aug. 21 Chicken and Noodles Friday Ham and Sweet Potatoes Come join us for lunch, each day except Wednesday, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. On Wednesday, we eat from 11 a.m. to noon. Call any morning before 10 for home delivery. Our meals are a meat dish, potatoes and gravy, vegetables, salad, homemade dinner roll, homemade dessert and a drink—all for $7.
Our meals last week were delivered by Susan Shrader, Connie George, Sharon Barnes, Brenda Stein, Janice Hood and Vernon Brickman. We are grateful for their help.
Our quilters last week were Louise Cooper and Martha White and they are very talented!
On Friday, Aug. 15, nurses from Mercy Hospital Watonga will be in to take blood pressure and glucose levels. They arrive about 9:45 a.m., and we need their vital services. There is no charge for this, either.
The Cheyenne Quilt Guild will meet on Monday, August 18 at 6:30 p.m. If you are interested in quilting, you are invited to come see what those talented folk have been making. It is always informative and inspirational.
There were almost 20 people for our Fun and Games on August 9. They enjoyed snacks, card games, dominoes, pool and live music. Our next F & G will be at 6 p.m. on August 23. Everyone is welcome.
Come join us at the Watonga Senior Citizens Center any day!
