EWS
By now the sugar high everyone got from Halloween should be about over. Kids celebrated three nights last weekend, and lots of candy was consumed. The weather has made us feel like it is really fall. On Tuesday, November 11, we will celebrate Veterans Day. This day honors all U.S. military veterans, both living and deceased, and it was originally called Armistice Day until being renamed in 1954. Many communities have activities on this day, parades, special meals, etc. The Watonga Senior Citizens Center will be closed on Tuesday, November 11, to mark this holiday. Come dine with us on other days. Our menu is as follows: Thursday, Nov. 6 Sausage and Sauerkraut Friday Indian Tacos Monday Taco Salad Tuesday CLOSED FOR VETERANS DAY Wednesday Steak Fingers (Kiwanis Meets) Thursday, Nov. 13 Goulash Friday Baked Ham We eat each day, except Wednesday, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. On Wednesdays, we eat from 11a.m. to noon. Call any morning before 10 for home delivery. You will receive meat, mashed potatoes and gravy, a vegetable, salad, homemade yeast roll, homemade dessert and drink for $7. With the rising cost of food, you will realize what a bargain this is!
Our meals last week were delivered by these smiling folks: Hailey Boden, Sharon Barnes, Brenda Stein, Janice Hood and Vernon Brickman.
Our quilters last week were Estalene Teply and Louise Cooper. They are doing beautiful hand-quilting on the quilt in the frames, Donations recently came in from Lisa Nelson for Frances Ice and from Joe and Teresa Bryan. We are grateful to you for thinking of us.
On Saturday, November 8, we will host Fun and Game Night from 6- 9 p.m. Bring a snack to share and enjoy card games, dominoes, pool and live music.
That same morning, join the Watonga Masonic Lodge for breakfast at the Center from 710 a.m. They will serve biscuits and gravy, eggs, pancakes, sausage and coffee to get your weekend off to a good start.
We realize that times are hard right now. The rising costs of food, housing, utilities and daily necessities are skyrocketing. Come join us at the Watonga Senior Citizens Center for a meal or to exercise or play a game. We are open to everyone of all ages and look forward to seeing you.
