SENIOR CENTER NEWS

There is no mistaking the arrival of December with its biting cold and festive flurries!

We see the emergence of Christmas lights and holiday decorations (and a reminder to pull out your warmest winter coat). Winter is here with late sunrise and chilled breaths.

“December is the time for remembering the past and reaching toward the future.”

At the Watonga Senior Citizens Center we welcome people of all ages to come and dine with us, Monday through Friday. We eat each day, except Wednesday, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. On Wednesdays, when Kiwanis meets at the Center, we eat from 11 a.m. to noon. Call any morning before 10 for home delivery. You don’t have to have us deliver each day, unless you want to. We are here to serve you a meat dish, potatoes and gravy, a vegetable, salad, drink and homemade roll and homemade dessert, for $7. This is one of the few bargains you will find. Our upcoming menu is: Thursday, Dec. 4 Spaghetti and Meatballs Friday Indian Tacos Monday Taco Salad Tuesday Breaded Pork LoinW ednesday Ham and Sweet Potatoes (Kiwanis Meets) Thursday, Dec. 11 Barbecue Sausage Friday Chicken Fried Steak Last week was a short week, being closed Thursday and Friday for Thanksgiving, so deliveries were made by Hailey Boden, Janice Hood and Brenda Stein. Our thanks to those ladies.

We received a donation from Patt Curtin in remembrance of Don Pinkerton. We are thankful for all donations.

On Friday, December 5, there will be a Night of Christmas Joy at Centennial Park (next to Clewell’s) from 5:30 7 p.m. There will be hot cocoa and cookies, vendors, food trucks, tree lighting and Special Guests. This is a kick-off to the holidays!

The next day, Saturday, December 6, is the Blaine County HCE Holiday Bazaar from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Foley Building at the Blaine County Fairgrounds. There is free admission and open to the public. There is a concession stand available. Storytime and craft workshop for the kids are free. Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus will be there for pictures. The Cheyenne Quilt Guild will sell tickets for two quilts to be given away that day. The quilts were made by the late Judy Curtin.

On Saturday, December 13, the Watonga Masonic Lodge will host its monthly breakfast from 7- 10 a.m. at the Watonga Senior Citizens Center. Come enjoy a hearty breakfast before beginning your weekend. It is a great way to start your day.

That evening the semimonthly Fun and Games Night will be held at the center from 6- 9 p.m. Bring a snack to share, and play cards, dominoes or pool and enjoy live music. This is open to all.

Dr. Seuss wrote “How did it get so late so soon? It’s night before it’s afternoon. December is here before it’s June. My goodness how the time has flewn. How did it get so late so soon?”

Happy Holidays from the Watonga Senior Citizens Center!
