EWS
We are now in mid-January and it seems Christmas and New Year’s Eve were months ago! There have been many who have been ill, my household being one. I am very grateful that we have Mercy Clinic and Mercy Hospital in our town. They have helped both my spouse and I with Covid. We at the Watonga Senior Citizens Center hope you have been well. Come eat with us and comfort food will help. Our upcoming menu is:
Thursday, Jan.15 Liver and Onions Friday Fried Chicken Monday Vegetable Soup or Chili Tuesday Chicken Casserole Wednesday Breaded Pork Loin (Kiwanis Meets) Thursday, Jan. 22 Chili Dogs Friday Chicken Fried Steak We eat each day, except Wednesday, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. On Wednesdays, we eat from 11 a.m. to noon. Call any morning before 10 for home delivery. You will receive a meat dish, potatoes and gravy, a vegetable, salad, drink, homemade roll and dessert for $7. That is a real bargain!
Our deliveries were made last week by Susan Shrader, Connie George, Sharon Barnes, Brenda Stein, Janice Hood and Vernon Brickman. We are very grateful for their giving of time for us.
On Friday, January 16, the nurses from Mercy Hospital Watonga will be in to check blood pressures and glucose levels. This is a free service and one we need to use when available.
Each Friday morning, after exercise class is over, about 9:45 a.m., we have a group of ladies playing cards. I am not sure what game they play, but they always seem to be smiling and laughing. I am certain that if you came to join them, they would welcome you. Then stay for lunch.
Monday, January 19, is the Martin Luther King holiday. Many businesses will be closed but the Watonga Senior Citizens Center will be open for lunch. Come join to celebrate this day and honor Dr. King.
It seems that our weather is going to shift towards more typical winter weather, with colder air and increased chances of snow, ice and strong winds. Stay weather aware and warm and stay healthy!
