EWS
Two weeks ago, we were in the deep freeze and now we are in early spring. This is crazy weather, right? Anyway, we have survived and are ready to forge on. I hope your preferred team won the Super Bowl and you enjoyed some good snacks and fellowship. Our next event is Valentine’s Day—the day to remember your sweetheart(s) with candy, flowers or gifts. This quote is from Alfred Lord Tennyson: “If I had a flower for every time I thought of you, I could walk in my garden forever.” Isn’t that a nice thought? Come to the center and see the beautiful quilt by Terri Crawford made in a heart pattern for Valentine’s Day.
Also, on Saturday, February 14, the Watonga Masonic Lodge is having its monthly breakfast at the Senior Center from 7 -10 a.m. Come bring your sweetie and start Valentine’s Day off with a delicious meal. And no dishes to wash!
On Monday, February 16, we celebrate Presidents’ Day, also known as Washington’s birthday. It not only honors George Washington and Abraham Lincoln but all the presidents who have served the United States. Businesses and government organizations are closed that day, but not the Watonga Senior Citizens Center! We are open and ready with a delicious lunch for you.
Our upcoming menu is: Thursday, Feb. 12 Chicken Strips Friday Roast Pork Monday Chili or Vegetable Soup Tuesday Chicken Strips Wednesday Breaded Pork Loin (Kiwanis Meets) Thursday, Feb. Liver and Onion Friday Fried Chicken
We eat each day, except Wednesday, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. On Wednesdays, we eat from 11 a.m. to noon. Call any morning before 10 for home delivery. You will receive a meat dish, potatoes and gravy, a vegetable, salad, homemade roll and dessert, with drink for $7. This is a real bargain. Bring a friend and enjoy a delicious lunch.
Our meals were delivered last week by Sharon Barnes (two days), Brenda Stein, Janice Hood and Vernon Brickman. We are very grateful for their service!
Also, on Valentine’s evening, we will host our Fun and Games Night from 6-- 9 p.m. Bring a snack and enjoy games and live music.
We exercise Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9 a.m. Come join us and get moving this new month. We would love to see you at the Watonga Senior Citizens Center any time. Enjoy the upcoming holidays!
