SENIOR CENTER NEWS

On Sunday, May 10, we will celebrate Mother’s Day. It is always the second Sunday in May. It is the day to honor mothers and mother figures with gifts, cards and flowers. If you are lucky enough to still have your mother, make sure to tell her you love her and appreciate everything she has done for you. If your mother has passed on to heaven, say a prayer to her and thank her for all your wonderful memories.

Here at the Watonga Senior Citizens Center, we serve food similar to what your mother may have cooked for you. Come have lunch with us any day and find out. Our menu is:

Thursday, May 7 Barbecue Sausage Friday Ham and Sweet Potatoes Monday Chicken Strips Tuesday Barbecue Ribs Wednesday Steak Fingers (Kiwanis meets) Thursday, May 14 Liver and Onions

Friday Fried Chicken Our meals were delivered last week by Janice Hood (two days), Sharon Barnes, Brenda Stein and Vernon Brickman. Thanks to them. Call any morning before 10, and one of them will deliver a meal to you. We eat each day, except Wednesday, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. On Wednesdays, we eat from 11 a.m. to noon. Our meals are still $7!

We received donations last week from Doug and Stacey Shirley for Danna Taylor, and from John Gates for Sharon Gates. We are grateful that those lovely ladies’ families chose to have them remembered through the center.

Louise Cooper and Estalene Teply were our quilters last week. They do a lovely job. Come see them at work and see the quilt being auctioned by the Cheyenne Quilt Guild. They are both aged and beautiful.

On Saturday, May 9, the Watonga Masonic Lodge will have their monthly breakfast from 7 -10 a.m. Start your weekend with a hearty breakfast served by a group of dedicated men (and women). Later that evening, the center will host Fun and Games Night from 6 -9 p.m. Enjoy fellowship, card games, dominoes, pool and live music with the Saturday Night Gang.

We have exercise classes Monday, Wednesday and Fridays from 9 -9:45 a.m. Come join us and get moving. Our exercises are endorsed by medical professionals as beneficial for those of any age. This is a free class, and all are welcome to participate.

Last week I said “May the fourth be with you.” This week, “May the fork be with you.”
