Have you ever tried to fry an egg on the sidewalk? Neither have I, but I bet it would have been possible these last few days! The temperatures have been over 100 degrees, and the feel-like temperatures even higher. Thank goodness, we have air-conditioning. We did not when I was young, and I remember sleeping on the floor on a sheet. Yes, I am that old. We would turn on the lawn sprinkler and run through it in our bathing suits. If we were lucky, we would have homemade ice cream. We look back on those days fondly, as we sit in our cool home at an even 72 degrees! Our mothers never complained that it was too hot to cook. Well, I can complain because it is. To avoid that, come have lunch with us at the Watonga Senior Citizens Center. You do NOT have to be a senior citizen to eat with us. Anyone of any age is welcome Monday through Friday. We eat each day, except Wednesday, from 11 am to 12:30 pm. On Wednesdays, when Kiwanis meets at the Center, we eat from 11 am to 12 noon. Our meals are priced at $8, and you receive meat, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetable, salad, homemade roll and homemade dessert, with a drink. You don’t have to heat up your kitchen or wash dishes. Call us any morning at 580-623-4511 before 10 am for home delivery.
