Hi everyone! Hope everything is going well for all of you this week.
Well, John and I stirred thing up this week when we took the senior citizen bus to Oklahoma City to a Sam’s Club for supplies, on our way home we decided to stop at Hooters to see our granddaughter who works there. The manager was shocked to see the bus and thought it was a bus load of senior citizens from Watonga. My granddaughter looked and said “oh, it’s just my grandparents.” Everyone had a big laugh out of it. We visited with her a few minutes and left, but not before John took a picture of me and the bus in front of Hooters. What fun!
We had donations from Granetta Wright, Elaine Compton and Sharon Gates this week. Granetta made a monetary donations and brought in some quilting supplies for the quilters. Elaine and Sharon brought in Best Choice Labels. Thursday they had a good group in for biscuits and gravy. Even had several carry-out orders.
Bob and Gene Matli put a new quilt into the frame for quilting. We appreciate them doing that. The quilt they put in belongs to Martha White.
Friday was fried chicken day and they served a total of 59 meals. There’s always a good turnout for fried chicken. After lunch they had six people stay to play cards.
Saturday night was our music and games night. We had a good time with thirtysix people coming in . Wayne and David were joined to play and sing by Wayne’s brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Marjorie Maddux. We always enjoy them when they come by.
This next Friday (May 28) will be our regular monthly birthday dinner of roast beef. After lunch there’ll be some bingo followed by some card games. If you are a member and had a birthday in May, you can get a free lunch.
Monday, May 31st is memorial day and we will be closed that day. Be sure to remember the memorial service at IOOF cemetery. I’m not sure of the time we need to honor our veterans and all those who have passed before us.
Our meals on wheels deliverers last week were our regulars. We sure appreciate them, and all of out volunteers.
