SENIOR CENTER NEWS

EWS

Hello, everyone! Glad to be back with you. Hope you’re all doing fine.

It’s been so nice the last few days. Must be about time for a cold front with freezing temperatures. That’s the way it seems to go. Little fall and spring, long summers and winters. At least we’re not flooded like Florida. That’s a blessing for us.

Well, this is the big week for the Cheese Festival. We all look forward to it but we’re sure relieved when it’s over. There’ll be a lot of things to see and do and fun for the kids. Be sure to get out and enjoy everything that’ll be going on. The parade is always good on Saturday. If you get out on Friday and want a good lunch, come by the senior citizens’ center for our turkey and dressing and pie. You’ll be glad you did.

While you are at the center, you might want to purchase some chances on the special quilt the Quilt Guild has put together. It is made of photos of areas of Watonga and past activities. It is really pretty and can be seen at old City Hall in the quilt show during the festival. I don’t recall the ticket prices but I’m sure they are very reasonable. If you are a quilter the Quilt Guild meets at the senior citizens’ center on the third Monday of each month. The next meeting is at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 17. The quilters have finished the quilt that was in the frame, but probably won’t put another one in the frame until after the Cheese Festival. It was the regulars that came in Thursday and finished it, Judy, Naida, Eastalene and Gene.

We will not be meeting on Saturday, Oct. 8. We’ll meet again for games and music on Oct. 22.

Margie Smith brought in cans to us. Thank you, Margie.

Several folks delivered our meals last week and we sure appreciate them. They included Pat Brewer, Sharon Barnes, Janice Hood, Curt and Brenda Stein, and Vernon Brickman. Thanks to all of you.

This will be our menu for the next few days. Call us for meals delivered or to go.

Thursday Oct. 6 – Roast pork sandwiches Friday – Turkey and dressing (charge will be $12) Monday – Ham and beans Tuesday – Breaded chicken breast Wednesday – Kiwanis at noon we eat at 11 a.m.

Thursday Oct. 13 – Chicken strips Friday – Roast pork And don’t forget biscuits and gravy each Thursday morning for donations.

Well, I think that’s about all my news for this week. I hope you are all well. Be sure to get out and enjoy the Cheese Festival. Don’t forget the open house at the Ferguson Home as it celebrates its 50th anniversary as a museum. Lots of goodies there!
