SENIOR CENTER NEWS

Hi, everyone! I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving with plenty of turkey to share. We had turkey and ham and all of the trimmings. I got to eat some mincemeat pie and some strawberry rhubarb pie. Yummy.

We had a lot of turkey left after the dinner and a couple of times of turkey sandwiches. So, I got out one of my cookbooks and sure enough, Justin Wilson had a recipe for Leftover Thanksgiving Gumbo. So, I made it using all the leftover turkey, andouille sausage, okra and a few other things and it was good. He was a terrific cook. I have two of his cookbooks.

Anyway, now that your stomach is full they want you to go shopping. That’s right. Christmas is just around the corner and the businesses want your money. As usual, we’ll gift money and let everyone get what they want. It saves making all those return trips.

Saturday night we had 14 come in to play games and listen to music. I didn’t make it but I know they had a good time. The next gettogether is Dec. 10. Where has this year gone?

We were only open three days last week but these were the folks delivering our meals for us: Peggy Franks; Sharon Barnes; Brenda and Curt Stein. Thank you all very much.

We received some memorial donations last week. Richard and Sandra Hightower donated in memory of Cathy Ray and Roy Gale Arthur. Jane Crawford’s donation was in memory of Penny Lamle and Roy Gale Arthur. Thank you, Richard, Sandra and Jane for your donations, they are appreciated.

Richard and Sandra Hightower renewed their membership to the senior citizens group. We’re glad to have you as part of our group.
