It is time for school to start, and the students have our sympathy for the heat still with us. Each day this past week the temperature has been over 100 degrees, and it appears that is the outlook for the next few days. Advice to students: keep as cool as you can! Here at the Watonga Senior Citizens Center we are cool. Come eat with us daily from 11 am to 12:30 pm, except Wednesdays, when we eat from 11 am to 12 noon. You won’t have to heat up your kitchen to fix lunch and you won’t have to wash dishes. That is a blessing, with this heat. Our meals are $8 and here are some of our upcoming menus:

Friday, August 14 Chicken Salad Sandwiches and Chips Monday, August 17 Chicken Strips Tuesday, August 18 Mexican Casserole Wednesday, August 19 Breaded Pork Loin (Kiwanis Meets) Thursday, August 20 Liver and Onions Friday, August 21 Fried Chicken

Call us any morning before 10 am for home delivery. Our meals were delivered last week by Susan Shrader, Connie George, Janice Hood (2 days), Brenda Stein and Vernon Brickman. Thanks to these loyal people.

Our lone quilter again this week was Louise Cooper and she does a beautiful job hand-quilting.

We received a donation from Arlyn and Joy Moon, for which we are very grateful.

On Friday, August 21, the nurses from Mercy Hospital Watonga will be in to take blood pressures and check glucose levels. This is a free service for anyone interested. On Saturday, August 22, we will have our Fun and Games Night from 6 pm to 9 pm. Come join the Saturday Night Gang for snacks, various games and live music. All are welcome.

We have exercise classes on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9 am. These classes are geared toward your own level. This is a free class and you will feel better after you participate. Come join us!

As I said before, it is cool at the Watonga Senior Citizens Center and you are welcome anytime.
