WATONGA – Watonga Community Theatre will present “Shenanigans at the North Pole” next Sunday and Monday, Dec. 5 and 6, at Watonga’s Liberty Theatre.

Written by local teacher Amy Adams, “Shenanigans” follows a “cunning, conniving, downright devious, slippery, slimy, lowdown sneaky elf” at the North Pole.

“It’s a comedy about an elf who is on probation because she keeps getting in trouble,” Adams explained to the Watonga Republican. “But turns out, she’s got some dirt on Mrs. Claus.”

The Sunday performance will begin at 2:30 p.m. and the Monday show is at 6:30 p.m. Rather than an admission price, Watonga Community Theatre is asking patrons to bring an unwrapped toy or a cash donation to benefit children through the Blaine County Department of Human Services. It is the organization’s eighth annual toy drive.

The Liberty box office will open for members only on Wednesday, Dec. 1 from 3:30 to 7 p.m. for those who want to reserve their spot. It will open again for the general public on Thursday, Dec. 2 at the same hours, and on Saturday, Dec. 4 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The box office will also open 90 minutes before showtime both days. It can be reached via phone at 580-623-9666.

The “Shenanigans” cast includes lots of familiar faces, including Adams, Kim Coney, Taylor Coney, Rita Jane Clewell, Giovanni Marquez, Ady Hightower, Julien Roman Nose, Shelby Miller, Liza Pearl Bruner, Calista Riley, Kenzie Lamle, Brystal Freschly, Callie Edsall, Arianna Parkinson, Cale Lorenz, Haylee Roberts, Mary Ann Teply, Ernesto Duenez, Denice Green and Jordan Valuenzuela.

Members of the crew include Kristyn Hightower, Marie Tech, George Ann Bordelon, Karen Gilliland, Tara Cowan, Evelyn Carmona, Arlet Campos, Joe Kalicki and Miles Clewell.

“Shenanigans at the North Pole” is directed by Patt Ward Curtin and choreographed by Taylor and Kim Coney.

It will be the first play and one of the first performances at the Liberty since the coronavirus pandemic and weather-related problems closed the theater for more than a year.

Watonga Community Theatre would like to extend special thanks to the City of Watonga, the Watonga Fire Department, Beth Massey, Terri Sue Crawford and the Watonga Library staff, and to Matli Construction.

The Liberty Theatre is located at 115 E Main St. in Watonga.
