Theater To Put On An Olio

The Watonga Community Theatre is buzzing with rehearsals yet again. On Sunday, October 22 for two shows, and Monday, October 23 the WCT will be performing its annual high school show. This year, the students at Watonga High School will present our first ever Oilo titled The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.

By definition, an Olio is a mixture of heterogeneous elements; hodgepodge, a medley or potpourri, as of musical or literary selections; miscellany, theater. a specialty act … so basically it's a variety act.

Co-directors Kim and Taylor Coney laughed when they explained the first step was explaining to the students who Carol Burnett was and about the show HEE HAW.

“Nothing makes you feel as old as explaining something to a high school student that was even born yet,” said Kim Coney. Taylor Coney continued to explain that not one of the students in the show had been born when 9/11 occurred.

Despite the generational gap, they have come together and created a fabulous Olio. Joined by several special guests throughout the Watonga School District, they will take you on a journey through The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. This cast of 24 students and 10 adults will blow you away with their talents as they sing, dance, act, and more. Be prepared to laugh until you cry as we look at the lighter side of life as we know it.

Tickets can be purchased by phone or walkup at the box office beginning Thursday, October 19 for members only from 4-7 p.m. The general public can purchase tickets October 20 from 4-7 p.m., October 21 from 9-11 a.m. and one hour before the showtimes.
