Students at Geary public schools experienced the magic of the holiday season at Toy Express, an event sponsored by Devon Energy and the First Responders Children's Foundation.
“Toy Express reflects Devon’s deep commitment to supporting our local communities and first responders,” said Tangi Smith, community relations supervisor at Devon. “This event is always a highlight for our team—we love seeing the connections and friendships formed between students and first responders.”
The First Responders Children’s Foundation Toy Express program, now in its fifth year, was developed to provide a catalyst for first responders to engage with their communities. The program will deliver toys to more than 100,000 children in 139 cities across the country with the help of local first responders and the donations of corporate partners.
“Every child deserves a joyful holiday season, and we are so thankful for Devon Energy’s amazing partnership to make that possible,” said Jillian Crane, president and CEO of First Responders Children’s Foundation. “The goal of Toy Express is to foster positive relationships between first responders and the communities they serve.”
The Geary Fire Department, Blaine County Emergency Management and the Blaine County Sheriff's Office participated in the event by bringing first-response vehicles, conducting demonstrations and distributing toys to approximately 150 local children.
“This is a fantastic partnership for our district and students,” said Sean Buchanan, Superintendent of Geary schools. “It’s a wonderful opportunity for our kids to interact with reallife heroes, explore career possibilities and make lasting memories with their families.”
