Two Confirmed Cases in Blaine County: Your COVID-19 Updates

The daily news update May 12 from the Oklahoma State Department of Health noted that there were 4,732 confirmed cases of the Covid-19 virus in the state. There have been 278 deaths statewide to date.

There are two confirmed cases of the virus in Blaine County, both in Okeene. Nationally, there are 1,347,881 confirmed cases and 80,682 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University coronavirus statistics.

In Oklahoma, the state is beginning to ease its restrictions on businesses considered non-essential. Restaurant dining rooms began serving customers on last week, as did some retailers. Some businesses, such as salons and car dealerships, work by appointment only.

Some casinos are planning on opening their gaming floors and restaurants May 15, although table games may not be part of that reopening immediately.

The Cheyenne and Arapaho tribes, as many others, will use advanced screenings and safety protocols for visitors. Guests will be checked for high temperatures and machines will be set up so that only every other one is live. CDC guidelines on sanitation will be followed and guests and staff are encouraged to use personal protective equipment. Lucky Star casinos, operated by the C&A Tribes are expected to open May 15. Sac and Fox casinos will also remain closed until at least May 15. The Tonkawa Tribe has reopened some of its casinos as has the Osage Tribe.

Social distancing remains the order of the day, with residents reminded to remain six feet away from people other than their own household. Those who are medically vulnerable or over 65 are still encouraged to remain at home other than for required outings to doctor, pharmacy or grocery stores and nonessential travel is still highly discouraged.
